Fieldnotes
Not the greatest cookies you will ever have, but they are solid cookies and easy to make. I would rate them 4/5 stars.
My first time, I made a single batch which produced 15 cookies.
My second time, I doubled the recipe and made 34 cookies.
Both times, I baked each sheet almost exactly 12 minutes and got very consistent results.
I put the extra dough in the fridge while waiting for the first batches to cook, which resulted in later batches spreading out less because the dough was slightly chilled.
2026-08-04 Third Time
I reduced the chocolate chips from 1 1/3 cups down to 1 cup.
The dough was very sticky right after mixing, but chilling it for 15 minutes made it very easy to work with and resulted in very consistent cookies. So, I removed the note in the instructions about chilling the dough being optional.
One batch produced 13 cookies.
Future Plans
I want to try making these with pecans/walnuts and half the chocolate chips.
